EU/EFTA Free-Movement Residence

Under the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons (AFMP/FZA) and EFTA Convention, EU/EFTA nationals have an entitlement to enter, reside and work in Switzerland. Employees with a 12+ month or open-ended contract receive B (valid 5 years); a 3–12 month contract gets L; service providers may work up to 90 days/year via the notification procedure; the economically inactive (including pensioners) get B on proof of sufficient means and adequate health/accident insurance. Registration with the commune is required within 14 days of arrival.
