C Permit — Settlement (Permanent Residence)

The C permit (Niederlassungsbewilligung) grants unconditional, time-unlimited residence and work rights. Under Art. 34 FNIA it is granted after 10 years of regular and uninterrupted residence, or 5 years for nationals of EU/EFTA settlement-treaty states (AT, BE, DE, DK, ES, FI, FR, GR, IE, IT, LU, NL, PT, SE, plus EFTA: IS, LI, NO) and US/Canadian nationals. Early settlement after 5 years (Art. 34(4)) requires successful integration: CEFR B1 oral + A1 written in the local Swiss national language, respect for security/order, constitutional values, and participation in economic life or education.
