The Malaysian Employment Pass is the standard work visa for professionals with a contract. A revised salary policy takes effect 1 June 2026: minimum basic monthly salary (allowances excluded) is RM5,000 (Category III, up to 5 yrs, succession plan required), RM10,000 (Category II, up to 10 yrs, succession plan) or RM20,000 (Category I, up to 10 yrs). A Dependant Pass needs EP salary > RM5,000/mo. Degree/experience are assessed by sector regulators, not a central hard gate.
